What should I feed my Persian kitten?

When you bring home a new kitten one of the MOST IMPORTANT things that you can do is FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS the breeder supplies you with.   All kittens (pure bred & domestic shorthair) have sensitive digestion systems.  It is very important to keep them on the same diet the breeder or rescue had them on for AT LEAST the first 3 months so that you do not cause digestive upset.   This also goes for treats as well.   Every time you introduce something new to your kitten, it is unrecognized by the gut.  A kitten is already under stress when they move to a new home (even if all outward appearances point otherwise).

Changing their diet during this time period can cause an upset stomach and/or diarrhea.   Once you upset the gut, it can take days to weeks to get it back to a happy place.  This is best avoided by NOT SWITCHING THEIR DIET.    I personally feed my Persian kittens Royal Canin Persian kitten dry food and Royal Canin Loaf in sauce Canned food.  I allow my kittens to have as much dry food as they want, I leave it in the bowl for them to eat at free will.   I also feed 1/4 can of their wet food once a day.  I never increase this amount, this is the amount of wet food they get for life.
